Madelyn Lohman
Madelyn Lohman is a fine art photographer and educator currently based in Superior, WI. Her work and practice are an emphasis of her passion for lifelong learning. Relying on the research of the history of photography, while approaching themes of memory, death, and the connection between the self and the "other." The subjects come from a place of intuition, driven by the impulsive desire to consume the stories unfolding. Seeking the unknown — to see where it has been and where it hopes to go.

Lohman began working with black-and-white film in 2017 and historical techniques in 2019. She is a wearer of many hats — possessing extensive knowledge of the photographic history and industry software and technologies. She has had a continued passion for the conservation and documentation of art since working part-time at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art as an assistant and intern between the years of 2019 and 2021.

Lohman has produced an artist book titled "What the Wildflowers Tell Us" (Self-Published, edition of 10, 2023), and has been a part of twenty-seven group exhibitions, including "Homescapes," in Barcelona, Spain, and Preceding "The Future at the Future," William Harris Gallery in Rochester, NY, three solo exhibitions, and thirteen publications, including Float Magazine and Neptune Journal. She is also the founder and chair of The Annex Photo Collective, established in 2024. Lohman received her MFA at the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2023 and her BFA at the Kansas City Art Institute in 2021. Lohman is currently an Assistant Professor at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN
